2010 Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid Concept

Lotus Engineering unveils the Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid concept on the 80th International Geneva Motor Show. A high performance hybrid sports car that accelerates from 0 - 62mph in 4 seconds. The total hybrid range of this car is of over 300 miles. The car features two modes: echo and sports mode with 7 speed paddle shift with energy recuperation.

Lotus has given this car an integrated glass roof and engine cover. The concept is also equipped with HALOsonic internal and external Electronic sound synthesis. The name Lotus 414E Hybrid comes from the environmentally-focused technology demonstrator at Lotus Engineering that produces 414PS (306KW) of power.

The Lotus 414E Hybrid Concept is powered by two electric motors driving each of the rear wheels independently through a single speed geartrain, integrated into a common transmission housing thereby enabling stability control and torque vectoring. The electrical power is stored in a lithium polymer battery pack optimized for energy density, efficiency and high power demand. The battery pack is mounted in the centre of the vehicle for better stability and also better safety.

The Lotus Range Extender engine provides additional range for the car. The Engine is a 1.2 liter, three-cylinder optimized specially for series hybrid vehicles. The Designing of the drivetrain is to combine the astonishing performance with efficient and low emissions driving. Lotus has enhanced driver involvement using the incorporation of HALOsonic Internal and External Electronic Sound Synthesis technologies from Lotus and Harman International, which provide sound contouring within the cabin and increase the safety of pedestrians outside the car.

The Lotus Evora 414E hybrid Concept has been crafted to highlight the innovative electric and hybrid vehicle technology of Lotus without compromising on the pure sports car character in the Evora.
